Well, I  have been in Albuquerque for alsmost 2 weeks now. It has been extremely difficult and I still do not know if I can make this a permanent arrangement. Add to all of this, my dog has been sick for all this time…. it’s really been the pits.

I have been busier than I ever want to be ever again! I have been packing to move to New Mexico to help care for my mother. I thought I had allowed myself a lot of time, but now less than 2 weeks away, I am wondering if I will finish!
I am so tired!

January 24, 2008————————- I have been putting this off, but had to bite the bullet once again and delete the entire installation of WordPress and start over. Now, hopefully, I’ll be able to upgrade the versions through Bluehost.

July 13, 2007————————- I will be implementing SEO techniques for this site by re-naming certain pages. Just an FYI in case you have bookmarked internal pages here Get your links from the front page as they will be updated first.

July 11, 2007————————- I have dreaded this announcement, but it is inevitable, so I had better just grab the bull by the horns…or more accurately, the WP re-installation by the …whatever. This site is a WordPress CMS and it was installed in a sub-folder. This is proving to be a problem and it will only get bigger if I do not tackle it now. So, I am moving this whole site to the root folder and this involves down time. There are ways to deal with it through MySQL, but I fear that will take longer than just deleting it and starting over.

July 10, 2007————————- Couple of updates here….I replaced the Flash search engine because I cannot afford to pay the $50 for it. I am going back to FreeFind, which does a great job, but I do apologize that you have to put up with the ads on the top. Try to ignore them

July 9, 2007————————- OK, I am almost bald from pulling my hair out over this issue, but I did find and I have tested a Flash search engine which seems to work well. July 8, 2007————————- Just FYI - I am trying to implement a search engine for the site listings. The front page SE only tracks the blog entries. I tried one, but it was not good, so I am still hunting…

I have worked hard to put everything on the front page here so that you can reach everything with only one click. I have set up html redirects for the Prizes/index and New Today/index pages to go to the current front page of http://www.gimmesweeps.com/. It seems to have been a smooth operation (thank you Bluehost!), but if you run into any problems, please let me know! ====================================== about me Welcome back to Gimme Sweeps! As a "practicing sweeper" I know what we need in a sweepstakes directory and I have done just that with this site. My name is Ingrid, a self-professed sweepstakes junkie who has been doing this crazy hobby for 30 years! Of course I started at age 5. LOL This site is a continuation of the 8 years I spent at About.com (originally the Mining Company) and I enjoy being able to spread my creative wings here. I like this Wordpress format so that we can have a blog and communicate amongst ourselves, while still having access to regular sweep page listings. This CMS is easy to use, especially through Bluehost, and I am using it in my Web Design work; as well. I also wanted to put everything one mouse-click away: Daily Entry, New Today, Prize Pages — so you will see the links to all of those on the front page — and to your right, right now! Except for the Ending Soon pages (there are way too many of them) and you can reach those through the Pages Section (top right). Those Pages also include the <a href="http://www.gimmesweeps.com/roboform/">RoboForm article</a> (cannot live without it!) as well as the Daily Trivia page. Don’t forget the Search Page to find hidden gems you didn’t know about! Description of Sweeps Pages onsite: *New Sweeps for Today Seven pages, one for each day of the week, that contain the newest sweepstakes and contests. Each page remains live until it is replaced the following week. * Daily Entry Pages with only daily-entry sweepstakes. Four pages with three months each on them. Easiest way to do your Dailies! FYI: the Bigsweeps page still has dailies and only the biggest ones! * Prize Pages All sweeps here are organized by the prizes to be won. The Home, Garden, Pets page will contain sweeps offering those kind of prizes - related to the home, yard, and pets.
